Every rigging job eventually comes down to one problem: the line is either slightly too long or slightly too short, and you need it exactly right. That's what a turnbuckle is for. It's the small fitting that takes up the slack, pulls the tension, and lets you adjust a wire rope, cable or rod by turning a single body — no cutting, no re-terminating, just a few turns and it's set. We make ours in stainless steel so they do that job for years, indoors or out.

What it is

A turnbuckle (also called a rigging screw) is an adjustable connector used to join and tension two lengths of wire rope, cable, rod or chain. It's made up of a central body with threaded ends — turn the body one way and the two ends draw together; turn it the other way and they spread apart. The ends come with a range of fittings to suit the job: eyes, hooks, forks, or swivel rings like the one shown, which let the connected component rotate freely without twisting the rope.

What it's made of

The body and fittings are forged or machined from stainless steel — SS304 for general use, SS316 where you're near salt water, chemicals or other corrosive conditions. The swivel-ring end adds a rotating joint so the rope or fitting below can turn under load without binding. Every working part is made to take the rated load in real service, not just on paper.

Why it matters on the job

A turnbuckle saves you time and rework. You can install a rope or rod slightly oversize, then use the turnbuckle to pull it to the exact tension you need — and adjust it again later when the line stretches or settles. In marine rigging, cable bracing, fences and structural tie-downs, it's the fitting that turns "close enough" into "exactly right."
